Editorial policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This page exists so you can judge our work. It sets out who writes the articles, how we establish the facts in them, how the site pays for itself, and what we will not do even when an advertiser would prefer it.
Who writes here
Articles on meritor.online are written and edited by Thomas Davis, who is the responsible editor for the site and is named in the legal notice. Every article carries a visible byline and a publication date. If an article is ever contributed by someone else, that person will be named on the article itself. We do not publish anonymous content and we do not publish content supplied by an advertiser under one of our bylines.
How we establish facts
- Primary sources first. For a game, that means the publisher’s own material: the official site, the patch notes, the in-game information screens and the app store listing.
- Then direct observation. Mechanics we describe are described as they behave in the game, not as marketing copy describes them.
- Then everything else. Community wikis and player guides are useful for orientation, but they are not treated as authoritative and they are not cited as proof of a number.
- Figures are either sourced or hedged. If we cannot point to where a number comes from, we do not print the number. We would rather write “a fraction of one percent, published in-game” than invent a precise-looking figure.
- The publisher prevails. Game content changes constantly. Where our description diverges from the game publisher’s own current information, the publisher’s information is correct and ours is out of date.
How this site is funded
By advertising, specifically by affiliate commission. When a reader installs an advertised game through a link marked “partner link”, the advertiser may pay us. Readers pay nothing, and we sell no subscriptions, no products and no data. The mechanism is described in detail in the advertising disclosure.
Advertiser independence
An advertiser pays for a link. An advertiser does not buy a verdict. Concretely:
- No advertiser gets to read, approve or amend an article before it is published.
- Commission rates play no part in what we recommend or how we describe a product.
- If the honest description of an advertised product includes drawbacks, the drawbacks are published. You will find them in our main guide, under the sections on monetisation and on who should not play.
- Commercial content is labelled where it appears, not buried on a policy page.
What we refuse to do
- No fabricated testimonials. We do not invent “reader stories”, we do not write quotes and attribute them to people who do not exist, and we do not present advertising copy as a personal experience. An earlier version of this site was framed as a reader-submitted story; that framing has been removed because it was not true.
- No invented ratings. No star scores, no “9.4/10”, no made-up award badges, no fake “editor’s choice” seals.
- No artificial urgency. No countdown timers, no “offer ends tonight”, no “only 3 spots left”, no fake stock counters.
- No guaranteed-result claims. We do not say that a game will make you money, that a strategy always works, or that any outcome is certain.
- No fabricated statistics or specifications. If a number is not sourced, it is not printed.
- No dark patterns. No pop-ups that trap you, no fake close buttons, no interstitials, no consent dialogue that pretends a choice exists when it does not.
- No impersonation. We do not present ourselves as the game publisher, as a news outlet, or as an official source of anything.
Corrections
We would rather be corrected than be wrong. If you find an error:
- Email info@meritor.online with the page address and what you believe is wrong.
- We acknowledge correction requests, normally within five working days.
- If the claim is wrong, we fix it. A correction that changes the substance of an article is noted at the foot of that article with the date and a short description of what changed. Typographical fixes are made silently.
- If we disagree, we will tell you why rather than quietly ignore the message.
Every article shows a “last updated” date so you can see how fresh it is.
Use of automated tools
Drafting and layout tools may be used in producing a page, but every factual claim published here is checked by the named editor before publication, and the editor is accountable for it. Tools are not a defence for an error.
